Uniform for EMDA

Wearing the correct uniform in dance class is essential for discipline, focus, and safety. It allows teachers to clearly see alignment and technique, helping students improve while reducing the risk of injury. Uniformity also creates a sense of professionalism and respect for the art of dance, helping dancers feel part of a committed and cohesive group.

The school's uniform was chosen with great care.

EMDA dancers may wear the same leotard for ballet, tap and modern classes(see pictures below). 

The leotard and wrap cardigans may be bought from the Bloch EU Website(see link below)

We recommend pairing up with other parents when making your order in order to reduce postage costs. 

Students may wear their (Espira Dance) uniform from last term if it still fits. We hope to have all students in the new EMDA uniform by term 3

Hair

Hair should be neatly tied back for all classes.

Ballet: Ballet bun for all ballet classes. 

Supplies recommended: Fine bun nets,  U shape hair pins, Bobbin, Hairbrush/Fine tooth comb, Hairspray

*We ask students to buy footless tights from a dance store, not a standard highstreet store as dance tights do not have the line near the top of the leg which can be seen with a leotard.

Jazz Shoes

Jazz Shoes are optional for modern. 

Dancers may feel more comfortable dancing barefoot in this class.

If the students would like jazz shoes, they may be bought from the Bloch EU Website, or other dance stores.

Dance with Dignity 

At EMDA, we maintain high standards of discipline, presentation, and professionalism, which includes strict adherence to the designated uniform. This ensures consistency, focus, and a shared sense of respect for the art of dance. It also helps students feel a sense of belonging and teamwork within the class. We understand that students may occasionally need additional comfort and support during their menstrual cycle. During this time, students are permitted to wear tight-fitting black shorts over their leotard. However, this is an exception and not part of the regular uniform. Outside of this circumstance, shorts are not to be worn in class. We appreciate everyone's cooperation in upholding our standards while making compassionate allowances when needed. Pictured is an example of suitable shorts which can be found on the Bloch EU Website.
